    hello All

I am considering building a sealed Tempest sub with a QTC around .707

I would like to power using a plate amp with about 400W RMS. Some thing similar to amp used in a Servo-15.

Are there any amp manufacturers that offer higher wattage plate amps to the DIY'er??

    thanks in Advance

Adire Audio offers a 500W plate amp, but it's not cheap.

Since the Tempest has dual voice coils, you might consider using two plate amps, one driving each coil. The popular 300-794 at Parts Express is still $125. Two of those each driving 8 ohms would give you a total of 360 Watts.

  5. Well...that would be $250
If you go to www.stryke.com, they have their AMP350 (350watts at 4ohms...ie coils in parallel) for $225.
less money...less shipping..less construction...less space on the enclosure to take up...less things to go wrong
..but you can't tune the coils individually...which very few people do anyways.
