    Which of the two has better image quality? Lets say, both are placed in a dark room, which would look better?

    I am trying to decide between the Panasonic TH-42PW4 Plasma TV and the Sony VPL-VW11HT LCD Projector.

    For me, image quality comes first, then screen size.

    What are the prices of the 2 units? I know which I would choose but I admit that I am truly biased with projection systems. I like the cinematic experience that a FPTV gives, something I have yet to see any TV duplicate.

    I would up the ante and go for a DLP projector--the Sharp 9000 comes to mind.

    Well here is my exact situation. I am redoing the basement and while my wife and i were making sure that the builder was a good one, by going to peoples homes that they had done, one of the people homes was a sales man for a A/V Store in the city (A very cool person by the way). To make a long story short he said that if we bought all our stuff from him, he would sell us his 2 month old VPLVW11HT for $8000.00 (his cost on the unit in Canadian) along with a new bulb. It only has 120 hours on it right now but what he wants to do is with that $8000.00 by a newer model so he always stays current. Im under the impression that it retails for 12000 her in the city. Here are the exact specs. Please let me know what you think.

    Boston Micro HT system (system9500)

    Dalite 106" TT HD Screen (106HDDAMAT)

    Sony LCD HomeTheather Projector (VPLVW11HT)

    Yamaha AC3/DTS Surr Recvr.W/ES (RXV1200)

    Sony Prog Scan DVD Player (DVPNS715P)

    Sony Prog Bracket

    Total = 15,800 $ Canadian

    Your thoughts are most welcome and much appreciated

    Yes, it retails for cdn$12K although I know of one store that will sell for cdn$9500 brand new. Note also that you can buy online for us$3200 but I don't know how warranty situation works. Why does he want to sell it with so little usage. As mentioned, the Sharp 9000 is the next step up, although the price is also a step up at around cdn$15K.

    If you've got the light controlled room, go for the FPTV, you'll never go back.

    I would have to lean towards Front Projector myself.
