Maybe someone can help me with what parts I need and or brands-not worried about cost- I am looking for info or what ever it takes to get this system up and running-

I am remodeling a master/bedroom and bathroom-I own an electrical construction business and can do most all of the work-I am not very good with audio but have installed several top of the line Bose home Theaters and whole house expandability before-

The problem I am having is I want a plasma/LCD TV to have simple use stand alone sound and cannot seem to get the correct info to do so- here is what I am doing and need to get all the pieces-

1) 42" plasma /LCD flat panel TV will be inset mounted above a fireplace and the box it goes in will be custom made and fitted with power and audio jacks-equipment can go into new cabinets set to the left and right of fireplace-TV will be covered with a mirror designed to let the TV picture show through when turned on-also possible an infraded repeater or hidden eye will be needed since the TV infrared may be covered by mirrors frame-

2) TV needs to have speakers outside in wall since TV is covered-what will make these speakers work?

3) Also in bedroom 5 speaker in wall home theater set up-maybe the TV sound can work through these-

4) Also bathroom will have 1 in ceiling speaker for basic music-

5) Will need to have am/fm, home theater , basic music , and basic TV sound

6) Operations as follows-
Surround sound
Basic music for bedroom and bathroom
Basic TV sound

Mitch,

Sorry, but your post is pretty vague, which is probably why you aren't getting any responses. For instance, I can't decide if you're trying to set up a whole-house system based in the living room, or separate independant set-ups including a "fireplace" TV in a living room, stand alone system in a bedroom, with another one somewhere designated as a "home theater," or what. I also can't decide if you're asking for interconnectivity advice between these, or advice for hardware for each location, etc.

Wayne,

As I stated this whole system is for a master bedroom / Bathroom- fireplace is in bedroom, the theater system is for bedroom-I will have 1 speaker also in bathroom-so what I need is-
1-TV use with sound out of speakers other than the TV speakers since they will be covered up-
2) TV will have home theater surround sound-5 speakers?
3) Master bedroom 5 speakers or less plus the 1 in bathroom to play basic musci/cd

I hope this clears it up-I am just not sure what components I need-

Okay - guess I'm just not used to seeing fireplaces flanked by equipment racks in a bedroom...

Anyway - you won't be able to get the 5-speaker surround sound from the TV. It'll require outboard amplification, so you'll need a 5.1 home theater receiver. Get one with "B" speaker connections for the front channels; you can use those for the bathroom. You'll need a separate a source for the "basic music/CD" for the bedroom and bathroom.

The cabinets on either side of fireplace will be decorative and any equipment will hide inside-one side is a wet bar with a fridge the other still open but there will also be uppers-

So wayne can you give me an equipmet list? is there a TV or speaker type that can just plug in?

Equipment list incudes:
  • 5.1 or 7.1 home theater receiver.
  • Source for TV programming (cable box, satellite receiver, or TV antenna).
  • Source for music (CD player, but a DVD player could also play CDs).
  • Set of surround sound speakers.
  • Subwoofer (optional, but highly recommended).
