Hi, been a while since I've been on here, but remember the excellent resource and came back for some advice.

I moved into a new place and have some limits on where I can place my 5.1 rears. I don't have the budget to buy much, so I am hoping I can use what I have. My living room has an odd configuration and I can't have the rears on stands because of a 6 month old of mine, so, I can either put direct radiating old Yamaha satellites on the back wall, or, put Atlantic SR224's on the ceiling or on the back wall. (8ft ceilings) I don't have a wall on the right side, otherwise it would be a no brainer. The left side could go on a wall.

Should I do some ceiling mounts?

rough not to scale drawing of room:

I do have attic access and can run the wires just about anywhere. Gonna be pulling some cat 5 around soon too...

What I am working with:
Sony DE945 A/V 5.1/DTS receiver
Sony Wega KV32FV26 (Yeah, some day I'll upgrade)

Paradigm Titan Fronts
Paradigm CC170 Center
Paradigm PDR-12 Sub
Atlantic SR224 Dipole Surrounds -or- Yamaha Tiny Bookshelfs

(Old layout)

Thanks for any input/thoughts.

I never cared for sound comming down from the ceiling (unless the fronts are also up there) so I would go with the back wall. The best way, of course, is to try it temporarily both ways and see which works best for you. You may like the ceiling better.
