If you have a 24/96 cd player (upsampling a 16 bit cd) and send it into a 24/96 dac receiver and then process it with PL2, does this processing truncate the signal into 16 bits or pass the full resolution through to the 5 speakers?

I've never read of any surround processor chips that work at a 24/96 rate. I imagine it's safe to say that you would not get full resolution from any piece that's out on the market yet...
