I just got a 5 channel amp and I was wondering how I can get this to work. The guy that sold me the amp gave me a Component video cable and a normal coax cable to use for the 5.1 cables. When I turn it on I only get sound out of the center speaker. What should I do? It seems as if the amp is fine. Is there anythign I need to do on the receiver to make this work?

I have a Pioneer 811 and a two channel amp.
What you need to do is get some RCA cables. Hook them to the pre-outs on back of your receiver. Make sure you put them in the pre out not the 5.1 input (for sacd etc.)
Hook the appropriate preout to the the amp input - ex. front right preout rca goes to front right speaker input on the 5 channel amp. Once you have all the preouts connected to the amp, unhook your speakers from the reciever and hook them to amp speaker connections. Turn on reciever and amp and try it out. calibrate the levels and enjoy!

Hope this helps.
