Can someone recommend a good player by these two manufacturers? I currently own 2 Toshiba DVD players - a SD-1600 and SD-2107 (the two disc player with two trays.) I wa thinking of upgrading the player to a progressive scan model, and was wondering which players would fit the bill.

Pioneer:
440 and 444 - which is better?

Toshiba:
4700,4800,and 5700 which is better?

How do these two manufactures compare in terms of picture and sound quality?

Thanks in advance for hte posts and please offer your suggestions.

I would stay away from the Pioneer players. The 444 has been said to be about the worst progressive scan player ever marketed. It does not perform 2-3 pulldown, leaving a lot of artifacts in the picture for film-sourced DVD's.
