Pioneer offering me a trade... (1 Viewer)

for my faulty 26tx. $900.00 for the 47tx. i can also
purchase the low 4xtx for 1/3 retail price. any thoughts/

Do the upgrade. If ya can, get the new 49TXi that is schedule to come out in the next few months. Or if ya have to do the deal now, get the 49TX.

I would do it! The 49tx is a really nice piece. I agree with RajeeK that the 49txi should really be great but I wouldn't want to wait that long without a receiver, unless you can convince him to loan you a crapper until the 49txi comes in. Either way, make the trade. If I had not gone the separates route, the 49tx would be on my very short list.

This would be a no brainer for me.
The 26 is 2-3 years old and worth about 500 (max?). A 49 can be had for 2400-2600 if you look around a little and dont mind buying gray market :/
Go for it!!! the 49 is sweet. If I was still using a receiver this would be the one for me

once again-$900.00 and my 26tx for the 47tx. i guess i'm not
so sure i wan't to spend another $900(not to mention the $1000 i spent on 26tx) on another pioneer.

also-aside from the remote and a some other perks-aren't the 47 and 49 virtually the same?

Tom,

Pioneer's web site should show you the specs/features for both models. My personal opinion would be to go for the trade since the 47tx would be a definite upgrade and you'll be getting it for >= 50 percent off the lowest on-line price. $2100 off the MSRP.

Fundemental differences between the 47tx and 49tx:

The better remote on the 49tx

9 band MCACC (49) versus 5 band MCACC (47)

Video upcnversion from composite and S-video to component video handled in the receiver (allows you to make one simple connection to TV) on the 49.

Higher wattage? (not sure)

Better DACs? (also not sure)
