OK deal. There's a listing for a 45TX "demo" unit out on Audiogon right now where the asking price is almost $700. There have been fewer & fewer 45's on EBay recently, but the "Buy It Now" prices were generally much higher than your price (heck, there's a 35TX out there now w/ a starting price of $549USD). You're not stupid and as long as your receiver works then you didn't get ripped off - you got yourself a very, very nice unit at a nice price. Enjoy it!

Yeah, you'll love that receiver, and that seems like a fair price. I've had mine for a couple of years now, and it's been able to do everything that I've asked it for. Probably the biggest thing about it is the great amp section in it. It will go well beyond it's advertised watts per channel. Also, you'll love the MCACC on it. It's plug and play, baby!!!

Yup, I have the 45tx as well and while $700 sounds high, it WAS a unit that retailed for nicely over $1000 only 2 years ago. Great neutrality, great amp, great looks. A winner all around.

Considering Costco dot com has a new VSX-1012K for $399, its not that great a deal. The 1012K is essentially a rebadged 45TX without the Elite nametag, extra year warranty or glossy finish.

It's a fair deal. What will decide how much it's worth to you though is how much you enjoy it.

It's not a bad deal by any measure, but the 1012K from Costco is a slightly better deal for essentially the same receiver minus the gloss finish. Chances are your used 45TX is close to or out of warranty.

Good luck, hope it works out well for you.

The 2012K which I own is the same unit as the 45tx and not the 1012K. The 1012K has 90W/C compared to the 2012Ks 100W. I have seen the 1012K at Best Buy and it is not the 45TX.

It might seem like they're similiar(Elites & non-Elites) from looking at a spec sheet, but if you look at a service manual you'll find quite a few more differences. There's a reason they make two seperate lines.

The 1012K is 100w x 7 and is exactly the same as the 45TX.

You can also verify that the 1014TX and 52TX share 95% of their chasis from their shared service manual.

THE 45TX AND 1014 ARE NOT THE SAME. THEY HAVE SOME OF THE SAME FEATURES, BUT THE 45TX WEIGHS ABOUT 12-15 POUNDS MORE.

THE 1014 SEEMS TO BE 41TX. THE 41TX IS IN THE YEAR LINE

The 45TX is one of the best receivers I have had over the last year. On par with a Denon AVR-4802 and better then the Denon AVR-3805, Onkyo tx-901, or any Sony. The price you got is a heck of a deal.

As far as comparing 1012 to the 45TX, No comparison. The amps on the 1012 are cheap as are all non-elite models of Pioneer. As the reason for the big weight difference. I have heard both the 1012k and the 2014k and would not purchase one of these Receivers even if you paid me.

The only Elite Model that would be close to the 1014k would be the Pioneer Elite VSX-41 (Very crappy receiver) that came out about 2 years ago and was very poorly made.

You both are WAY off. The 1012K IS the 45TX. EXACT SAME FEATURES, SPECS, WEIGHT, and APPEARANCE except the gloss black finish. Just as the 2012K was the same as the 45TX and sold by good-guys, the 1012K is the same as the 45TX and being sold by Best Buy and Costco.

I never said the 1014TX was the same as the 45TX. The 1012K IS however. The 1014TX IS THE SAME AS THE 52TX, SAME WIEGHT, FEATURES, and APPEARANCE (except gloss black and multizone). The 52TX and 1014TX even share the same service manual. If you're concerned about Pioneer listing the 1014TX's weight at 19lb that is a misprint. The correct weight is 34lb, same as the 52TX. I've verified the 52TX/1014TX being the same with my local dealer's regional Pioneer representative. They're made on the same line in Malaysia. The 1014TX is not your standard non-elite Pioneer unit.

The Elite 41 was the same as the standard Pioneer 811S. Same weight, features, and appearance (except for gloss black). They also share the same service manual.

Well there's alot of misinformation floating around and when people become rude when imparting their misinformation and begin bashing other people's gear it comes to the point where some emphasis needs to be placed on what is correct and the misinformation of others needs to be put in start releif.

No, Steve is our resident "Pioneer" specialist. He's done his homework on their gear and I trust his opinions. :)

I have heard them side by side. No way the same. The amps on the 45TX were much better and very noticable difference then the 1012k. I know Steve H you own the 1012K so owners always stick up for there gear, but as a non-owner of either and one who has heard them side by side I can tell you if you have a choice and even for a few hundred $'s more go with the 45TX.

Steve (F M), I'm not sure exactly which units you have compared side by side with the 45tx. Is it the 1012k, or the 1014tx? You've mentioned the 1012k, 1014k and 2014k so I just wanted to clarify which units you compared.

Here's a picture of the 45TX

Here is a picture of the VSX-2012K

See the similarities? They are pretty much the same unit, right down to the Air Studios Certification Logo. Although I must say the 2012K pictured and the 1012K at Costco look a lot more like the 43TX while the 1012K at BB looks exactly like the 45TX.

Here's a link to a thread on Hometheater Spot from a owner of the VSX-1012K who said the manual is word for word the same as the one he downloaded for the 45TX.
