It should be noted the OSD on the Elite is a SWITCH OUT and not an overlay...
Indeed, and that is why alluded to keeping signal paths separate in oder to maintain the integrity of the pass-through signal. Perhaps it costs more to implement an OSD as a separate signal generation/output in the receiver rather than as an overlay of an existing signal. Maybe Denon didn't want to go to the expense and trouble to design a character generator that operates independent of any other video signal. Maybe they just didn't think of this. I don't know how these things work exactly so I'm just guessing.
