Pioneer's new DVD/SACD MCh/DVD-A player was unveiled for the US market at CES yesterday.
    - February
    - $1200
    - Native DSD decoding (not DSD -> PCM -> analog as in Pioneer AX10)
    - Bass Management for both DVD-A and SACD
    - Progressive Scan
No definitive word on the chroma bug yet, but that's not a huge concern for me.
It looks like I'll finally be jumping into high-res audio...

Wonder what the street price will be? Probably stay close to MSRP due to demand for a short time, but In 4 or 5 months?

I bet you soundpros.com will take orders at ~$800, based on prior Pioneer Elite discount rates.

I don't think so, but if you read up on them - they are reputable, meaning they've been around a long time and will provide you with their own warranty that they'll stand behind. I have never ordered from them personally, but I have read MANY comments from happy customers. I learned about them when the Pioneer Elite 49TX receiver came out with a list of $4200, but many people didn't want to pay that price.

    Hope this helps.

Regarding the Bass Management, does anyone know:

    flexible? HZ range?

    fixed? HZ frequency?

    Thanks.

I would not expect Tweeter and other brick-and-mortar (i.e., authorized) Pioneer Elite dealers to discount the '47A from $1200. Sound Pros will probably have discount it, but I doubt they will go as low as $800. Maybe $1000 or $1050. Just a guess. In any event, I ordered from Sound Pros once and had a good experience overall. The two things that bugged me about them is that my item came from Hawaii for some reason (warehouse?), and it was not shipped double-boxed.

Any word on whether it has aspect ratio control like Panasonic RP91? That could make it the perfect player!

Did they take some player that is coming out overseas, add side panels, and add about $500 to the retail price?

I'm not being sarcastic, I thought I saw something recently about an import player with the identical features for a hell of a lot less.

    Somebody set me straight?

Michael, it is very similar to the DV-747 we here about overseas. I don't know if its identical inside.

Michael, from the pictures of the DV-47A at CES, it looks like Pioneer did not include rosewood sidepanels, which is unfortunate.

Turns out there *isn't* bass management. Bah.
Maybe another generation or two, and hi-res audio will be ready for prime time.
Oh, well, that's $1200 I can spend on something else. I'm certainly not going to cough that kind of money up for a player and then have to spend another $250 for the Outlaw box to make it function properly.
    Color me disappointed.

According to the Pioneer Guys @CES Rosewood is officially out, so don't expect to see it if there is a 48 model. Also I was told that it did not have the improved 2:3 pulldown they call PureCinema II. If anyone can confirm this please do.
