I have seen this player listed at online stores. Anyone have one yet? I am particularly interested in the audio (SACD/DVD-A and CD) playback capabilities.

Bipin, I don't think the '45A has hit stores in the US yet. Note that few, if any, online dealers are authorized to sell Pioneer Elite products.

Keith - was at a local store on Saturday to pick-up some spare laserdisc parts (just to keep in case) I ordered and on the way out I asked what they had was new and they indicated the DV-45A. I did not have time to check it out but saw it from 10 ft. away on my way out the door.

It seems Pioneer's website has been updated with the 45a as of Friday, may help with tech specs. I'm looking to pick one up myself but haven't checked the local hifi stores yet.

I have checked out Pioneer's site. The specs are there, but I could not find the manual. It sure looks great on paper! Patricio, please post a review if you do pick one up.

My local hi fi store advertised them this week, but I haven't had a chance to stop by.
Read the following if you want a good laugh...
    My Question:
Inquiry: I saw you now have the DV-45a listed on your web site. But not the manual yet. I was just curious if this player has bass management for SACD *and* DVD-Audio? The older 47a only had it for SACD. I have a DV-05 now, and am looking to upgrade. Thanks!
    Pioneer's Response:
    Dear Kevin Brown
This model DV-45A will plays DVD-RW/DVD-R/CD-R/CD-RW/DVD-Video/DVD-Audio/CD/DTS-CD/SACD/MP3..

    Hmmmmm...

I bet the customer service or call center for Pioneer is located in a non-english speaking country. :)

Kevin, maybe you should have typed your inquiry more slowly. They might have understood you then! [IMG]

    Kevin,
Once again, I commend you for trying. First Sony, now Pioneer. [IMG]
    Phil,
Thanks for the information. I will have to look for the '45A at Tweeter stores in my area.

Keith- Dude, I tried Denon too, but, "No Reply at All" ... [IMG]
There are 45a's on ebay right now. My dealer wants $499, ebay is $440-ish.

Kevin, you have a strong conviction. I've heard that Denon is difficult to get a hold of.

Keith- (From a few other threads too...) I'll probably "make due" [IMG] with a 45a until Sony does an ES universal machine, or Denon puts out a nice universal player...
One thing I haven't figured out yet, what are the differences between the 47a and the 45a? Still have to research that one. I had thought that maybe the 45a wasn't progressive, but it is.

Kevin, I think Mike got it with respect the '45A vs. the '47A.

A universal player is far more likely to come from Denon than Sony.

My guess then: the 47a is 11 lbs, I bet the 45a is around 7? I checked for this on Pioneer's web site, but didn't see the weight for the 45a.

Kevin, wouldn't surprise me. 7 lbs. is awfully light, but there are some players out there that weigh in that neighborhood.

Keith- The DV-05 I have only weighs 6.5 lbs! (Just checked.) The HHB burner I have is 8.5 lbs.
But my DV-05 is slowly dying. Periodically skips on CDs, motor noise on DVDs, etc. Same-o as commented on the reviews on audioreview.com. I'm looking forward to pushing Pioneer to fix it for free... [IMG]

Kevin, I thought the '05 was heavier. I am not surprised that the HHB deck is light. Most pro audio components are light since people carry them around all the time.

Sorry to hear about the problems with the '05. I'm sure it has served you well.

Just FYI, HHB is CD recorders are made by Pioneer. In fact, HHb is the pro-audio division of Pioneer (in terms of manufacturing).
