Won one on e-bay,any thoughts on them. The few reviews i read seemed like they are pretty good.

Not a bad player, hopefully didn't cost to much. Once HD-DVD or Blu-ray catches on it will not be good for video anymore. The audio should still make you want to keep it though, SACD, DVD-audio, Legato link conversion, really a descent multi-format player. HDMI is a nice feature, but won't last to long.

I have no interest in HD for now, maybe in a couple of years at the soonest. I'm more audio then video.

Then this player should match your needs for some time.

I know the deinterlacing took a back seat (compared to the 59Avi), but not sure how noticable it will be with most "real world" material.

I've had this player for about 8 months never a problem, very good SACD, CD & DVDA playback, not bad on video & DD, DTS etc. Recommeded! Check out Secrets web site & AVS forum for more info.
    Regards

I think the 59AVi is a better buy. It has better video as judged by Secret's testing. Plus, you can get a better price. Unfortunately in this case, newer isn't necessarily better. [IMG]

No you cant get the 59 at a better price. A 79 can be had for 600 bucks, not a 59 and true about the video but really, how much of that will be noticed? I think msrp was like 600 more for the 59.

Dude, check your facts. [IMG] 59AVi's are going for cheaper than the 79AVi on both eBay and videogon.

BTW, original MSRP on the 59AVi was $1600, but when the 79AVi came out, it was dropped to $1000. I believe that the MSRP for the 79AVi started out at $1100, but has since dropped to $1000.

Dude, i guess when i was shopping on videogon and e-bay i looked in the wrong places, everytime i saw a 59 it was $100-200 more then a 79. I read the secrets and like most of the reviews,i wont tell any video difference because between the 59,79,2910,3910,i'm just not that good at spotting those tiny, tiny details and really, dont care.

You could have checked here *before* you got the player. That's the real value of places like this. [IMG]

This model is supposedly discontinued. Many stores are selling at half of original retail

Why ask what people think and then get defensive when they tell you? I have a review of a player with Legato and they were not enthusiatic about it.

In any case, you like what you bought and that is all that matters.

For future reference, people will tell you what they think if you ask.
