    Brad,

It would help if you could be a bit more specific about "decoding problems".

I've had no problem with mine decoding any digital format. Most DDEX dvds aren't properly flagged so you have to manually turn on the rear surrounds, but that's the disc's fault, not the receiver's.

I'm just wondering if this unit has any problems like the Onkyo 898, or Sony 5ES with audio drop outs - JPIII, Pearl Harbor, in the dolby 5.1. To avoid these drop outs, the dts sound track had to be chosen.

I've tried a zillion DVD's in the last 5 months. This thing is a procesing maniac. No problems what so ever.

I leave it in Auto and let it force on DD-EX, DTS-ES, or THX Surround EX, even if the DVD isn't specifically encoded for it. If it is encoded it has no problems.

    Works great.

    It recognizes everything.

    Love it.

Have you tried any dts-es New Line dvd's? These are the ones that supposedly are giving the Sony 5ES problems - either no sound or flashing display on the receiver.

I've played New Line's Se7en and LOTR/FOTR EE in DTS-ES with no problems at all. Fox's Gladiator also plays flawlessly.

The processing on the 45tx is bulletproof. Of course, as I say that someone will probably prove me wrong.

Anyhow, the bottom line is I rank the processing on the 45tx with receivers/processors costing many $$ more.

    Cheers

    Andrew B.

New Line releases include Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition, Simone and Se7en with DTS-ES Discrete. They're a division of Time Warner.

Gladiator is a Dreamworks release as are The Haunting and Chicken Run, all of which have DTS-ES discret.

Atlantis Special Edition also has DTS-ES Discrete and is a Disney release.

Next Tuesday's new release of Stargate SE from Artisan will also have DTS-ES Discrete.

Juan, were you using a DA5ES before the Elite? How do you compare the two? Are you using this as a prepro?
