gaming: depends on the game, usually prologic.
music : stereo but the 1014 IMO is kinda crappy at stereo music
Movies: if its a THX movie then it goes in thx, if not its usually just a click of the standard button.

Music CD's- Stereo mostly, sometimes 7 channel stereo depending on the source material.

Movies, SACD, DVD-A - DTS if available is always my first preference. If not whatever auto surround selects is generally fine. I find the advanced effects gimmicky. Not alot of THX listening so far.

TV - when a true Dolby Digital signal is present that usually works well, I get very little of that from Dish Network. The generic TV stereo which dish provides for 95% of their programming sounds unimpressive no matter what I select, very disappointing.

    Games - N/A

    Movies - Auto Standard.

Music - Usually Stereo, sometimes PLII.

Games - Usually from XBOX DD5.1, so Auto Standard again.

BTW, I just got this receiver and I noticed that everytime a new source comes on, it flashes a "Normal +4" message or something. Actually, maybe even "Normal Dialog +4".

I am sure I dont have any enchancements/ modifiers on.

Any idea what that message means?

CD's - "Direct" mode. Sounds best hooked up with an analog connection from CD player.

Movies - Either Standard (DD or DTS) or THX DD/DTS depending on the movie or which EQ setting I'm using.

    TV - 7 Channel Stereo
