It's all pretty much summed up in the subject line.

I live in a town just south of Boston called Quincy, and on the 6th floor or an apartment building. We get pigeons on our balcony ALL THE TIME. The make that stupid cooing noise NON-STOP!

Are there any non-lethal methods of keeping them away? Anyone that can help me, please do. The cooing is driving my fiance and me up the walls.

They usually like to land on the balcony railing, my Dad use to string up some fishing line above the railing (running along it). That kept them from trying to land on it and they found a new perch.[IMG]

Didn't hurt any of them, just makes it so that can't sit there.

They make goofy looking windsocks that keep birds away. Or, I think a plastic owl might work to scare 'em off:

My old church recently bought some pigeon siren thing, but obviously it's loud and goes off at various intervals. It works though.

In a similar vein, any suggestions for a bird who has decided that my car's sideview mirror is his favorite perch? Come down every day to find bird crap all over the side of the car, as well as my mirror and window all scuffed from his wings.

two strands of wire, and a 12v car battery. Bird lands on wires, closes circuit, zap. Bird doesn't land on wire again. Ok I just made that up, but it might work [IMG]

You could also hotglue golf tees pointed upwards where they like to sit. Sounds funny, but some crafty airport manager did it to all his runway/taxi lights to keep birds from sitting on them and it worked.
