This is my first post so forgive me if the format is not 100%.

I’ve been a reader of this site for over 2 years and have picked up numerous ideas (i.e. How to create an arc for a stage using 2 nails and a piece of string) that I put into action over the holidays. My folks came into town for Xmas so I decided to put my Dad to work…(far more talented than I when it comes to construction).

Background: We purchased our house 2 years ago (a builders spec home) and had the basement finished at that time. Along with a friend I wired the basement and simply ran speaker cable to the back walls. The layout is rather basic – one large room that is used as both a rec room and a HT. The walls were painted an off-white.

Upgrades over the holidays: We started on Dec 26th and finished on Dec 31st. Upgrades include – New paint (Dark Blue), Front Stage and Feature Wall.

Again, thanks to everyone for the ideas and appreciate any comments you might have.

I'm not able to imbed a URL so see my homepage setting for the pics.

What is type in the url to your homepage without the http or the www in front of it. When I click on the link that you have associated with your profile it takes me to your yahoo page but doesn't allow you to view the pictures.

The room is essentially a rectangle...roughly 26ft long X 14ft wide. The HT used area is 14ft long by 14ft wide.

The stage is approx 4 X 8 (4ft at its deepest) & is constructed out of a 2x10 base with a 3/8 MDF top.

To cover the stage I wanted a dark carpet, either black or dark grey. A local carpet store had the perfect material - black with a rubber back but they wanted $5/sq ft. I found the same carpet material @ Home Depot that was cut into 3x4 matts...purchased 3 for $30 total.

BTW, does anyone know how to take wood glue out of berber carpet???

It's dark blue. The color is called "Distance" - Behr Paint.

Very nice man, I love the stage you made for the RPTV. You might consider raising your center channel just a bit, so that it can be closer to ear level. At any rate, very nice.
