Picking up Digital Channels (1 Viewer)

Is it possible to pick up the digital signal(not the HD signal) from the local TV stations with an OTA antenna if I don't have a set top box? I have a Hitachi HDTV, but just the generic Direct TV box, and since direct tv doesn't give local channels here yet, I'm trying to get better reception than the analog signal I'm currently getting for the local channels.

Regular analog tv tuners will not tune digital broadcasts, period, whether they are HD or SD makes no difference.

Unless your set is one of the few with a built-in digital tuner, it will not receive any digital signals at all without a box.
