Pic modes on the 50HDX82 (1 Viewer)

Ok so I got my 50HDX82 up my stairs, wow what a PITA (small staircase). Set my DVD player to 16:9 and am using component cables, what mode should I be using?? the natural mode puts gray bars on the sides and on the top/bottom, should I be in full screen of Theater 1?

I would really like them too, I tried almost all of the older codes from Remote Central, none of them worked. I learned all of the codes to my pronto, but they are unreliable. Any help would be appreciated!!

I use full screen for DVD and Theater 1 for 4:3 material.
