I’m a builder building my own home. I have a 2X6 wall that I will mount a 50" pioneer plasma to. I can rescue it in the wall only about 2" I don't think that’s enough. I will have to fur out the wall around the TV. Dose anyone have any suggestions or photos of similar situations

While I have no suggestions, I am concerned about heat dissapation. Plasma's consume a good deal of power, and that heat has to go somewhere.

You definitely have to allow for the heat, but as long as there is at least two inches space around the perimeter you should be fine.
