    Hi everyone, first of all this is my first message. I've decided to buy some HT equipment and after some internet search, found this great community. In fact this forum is so terrifying for a new member, I have been just reading for some weeks without posting. Do not want to repeat a recent question.

    Anyway,with all my courage here is my first question:

    I bought a Philips DVP720 player for DVD and DivX format but it also plays MP3, CD and SACD. In engineering, when you expect too much from a device, the overall quality drops. I wonder if it is applicable to this player. This is a link to this Philips player

    (I just learned that I can not post a link [IMG] )
    Audio DAC: 24bit, 192 kHz

    I'm not a specialist or "perfectist", I just want to listen music in my home. I have a lower end A/V receiver (TEAC PLS 85D). A lower end CD player is just fine for me, but I'm not sure SACD option will be a good investment for the future.

    --> TEAC PDD2410 CD

    --> SONY SCD CE595

    These are two options. I'll be glad for some help.

    Regards

    Welcome to the forum! Don't be afraid to ask questions we all started at the begining at one time or another and I know I still learn new things every day.

    Honestly that unit won't be the limiting factor in the sound you hear with the rest of the equipement you own. That's not meant to be a knock just that in everyone's systems there's always a weakest link and in yours its not going to be the CD player. If you have extra monies available to spend on the system I'd look at upgrading the speakers or the Teac unit.

    Hi Andrew, thank you for your help.

    After your message I've been searching for a suitable speaker system and narrowed my choices to these:

    --> Jamo E 350 PPL
    1. 92 dB Sensitivity
    2. 2 channel speaker system
    3. 2*140W+3*100W + 100W Subwoofer[/list=1]

      --> Sony SA-VE356
      5*120W

      Between this options Sony is a 6.1 but my A/V receiver is 5.1.

      My A/V receiver is 280W so I hope ı can use one of these speaker systems safely.

      Regards,
