Philips BDP9000 and Pioneer BDP-HD1 coming this year, no HD disc players from Denon (1 Viewer)

Ah, working on the weekend. The money is good, and I can post here more. Via HD Beat:

On a side note, Denon's display was noticeably bare of either format, and their rep says "that these higher-end boys are waiting till the dust settles before choosing sides."

I was talking to a high-end retailer the other day who mentioned that he had seen the Pioneer, and, in his opinion, it was far better than the Samsung and well worth waiting "a couple of weeks" for. Unless this guy was seriously misled by his dealer, I'm not thinking Spring — if he knows he isn't getting a product until then, he has no reason to talk it up over a model he has in hand!

Well I would never put a Samsung anything up against a Pioneer Elite....anything. They are completely seperate leagues, one could not expect a Samsung to contend with Pioneer Elite, ever IMO.

Can anyone confirm or deny that the Phillips is a rebadged Samsung? I thought that was a little strange when I first heard it but I just wanted to know if anyone knew anything concrete. Also, are there any solid specs on these players?

Sweet looking player, for an Elite player, that's not really a bad price. Reminds me of the 414. Wish I had the 1500 for it.
