I called Philips today, and a firmware upgrade disk is available. They do not believe that it corrects the angle icon problem. Supposedly it corrects a skipping problem with some disks that have additional computer software.
According to Philips the version is 4.81.18. It has been available since 4/25/03. It would be nice if they would have automatically sent out the disk, especially considering the amount of time I have wasted dealing with them.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like we will even get the new European firmware that is available on the new players there. It is 4.81.22. If anyone knows where we can get this version, please let us know.
