Like most of us, I've been poking around, browsing back and forth on what set to get and when to buy. I've been doing this for about 8 months now :)...I've almost gone DLP, almost gone JVC DILA, and now, after seeing the new Philips 42" PLasma (42PF9976), you can add PLasma to that list!

This is the first Plasma set I've seen that falls under the value for the dollar category IMO. I can get it for 4 grand at the local PC Richards, delivery/taxes included and the Philips sets come with the wall mount as well.

To me the picture is excellent...

Does anyone have any first hand reviews of this set or have any feedback that I should consider being that most of my research has been based around LCD, DLP, DILA.

As far as what I use TV for...mostly ESPNHD/HBOHD, some gaming, some news channels, and an occasional movie here and there with my wife. Fortunately most of the shows I watch are broadcast in HD through my COmcast DVR box which I currently have hooked to my 36" JVC HDTV CRT and 23" Widescreen LCD HD in the bedroom...

Any thoughts from you guys b4 I run down to PC Richards and make this purchase?

Are the warranties worth it? I would think so on the Plasma's, right?

Man, this is the 2nd post on here about these ambilight plasmas. I have got to go demo one somewhere. I have yet to see one in person.

check the the latest issue of sound and vision magazine there is a review of this tv - rather impressive and the ambilight doesnt seem to be the gimmick some have said it was.
