There's an offer at Philips.com for either the 8402 or 8420 on sale for $388 plus a 10% off coupon ($350.09) with free shipping. The sets are factory renewed.
The questions I've got are:
1) Are these sets any good? I've been into DVD and home theatre for almost seven years, but haven't been able to afford a decent TV, widescreen or otherwise. I'm currently using a 27" from 1988.
2) Which set is the preferred set? It would be used mainly for regular cable broadcasts, DVD movies (widescreen, of course) and for playing Xbox 1.
3) Has anybody had issues with these sets? Like I said, I'm not a TV tech, just a movie buff.
4) Should I just say bugger it and save up for a different set altogether?
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
