I may have done this one waaay back in the day. I honestly don't remember. You all know the rules.

Movie must have been filmed in (or IMMEDIATELY AROUND*) Philadelphia. As a representative of the Philadelphia Film Commission (an organization I just now made up), I reserve the right to veto films I think are ineligible.

Since they're the obvious ones, I'll start us off with two movies:

Philadelphia (Jonathan Demme, 1993)
Rocky (John Avildsen, 1976)

(* i.e. a certain sci-fi blockbuster from last year.)

Participants get two nominations. Seconds are not required; just make sure your picks fit the Philly requirement.

I think Signs is stretching the concept a bit. But Unbreakable should work, so I'll nominate it.

Nominate:
Birdy
Twelve Monkeys

I did a summer session at Temple University in 1991. Cheese steaks suck.

I would have nominated Birdy, but Chuck beat me to it.

IMDB's Power Search lists 207 titles, several of which I've never heard of, several of which I don't specifically remember as being Philadelphia movies, but I'll go with sure things.

If the qualification is that any part of the movie was filmed in Philadelphia than I'll nominate Marnie, if it has to be more Philadelphia-centric I'll nominate Rocky III

Taps? Doesn't the entire movie take place inside a military academy?

Oh, I do remember one scene with the boys going out to the movies or something and getting in a scuffle with the locals. I guess that was Philly.

I'm rooting for Mannequin 2: On the Move to win the tourney.

I suppose I'll have to be the one to nominate the eventual winner: The Garbage-Pickin' Field-Goal Kickin' Philadelphia Phenomenon, with Tony Danza.

If Crumb was actually shot in Philly I'll nominate that too.

And I know I didn't read the words "Cheese steaks suck."

Because if I did, there's gonna be a problem. :)

Vickie! You made it too easy for everyone! :frowning:

Houseguest is ineligible, as it was filmed in and around Pittsburgh - which is a full 300 miles away from Philadelphia. :)

I'm still debating whether or not The Philadelphia Story is eligible, as I don't think any of it was actually filmed here...ironically enough.

I'm vetoing The Garbage-Pickin' Field-Goal Kickin' Philadelphia Phenomenon because A) it's a TV movie, and B) it's an embarassment to the city. :) Evan gets another pick.

Oh, and despite what the IMDb says, no part of Seven was filmed here.

Scott, I thought this was a cool idea for a tourney. Why don't you just fill the remaining spots?
