14-DVD Set Arrives May 11, 2021

Relive some of the greatest performances by legendary actor John Wayne with the JOHN WAYNE ESSENTIAL 14-MOVIE COLLECTION, arriving on DVD May 11, 2021 from Paramount Home Entertainment.

An American hero and icon, Wayne had an epic, 50-year film career in which he played the lead in over 140 films. He was nominated* for three Academy Awards®, winning the Best Actor award for his performance in True Grit.

I have to agree that this set should have been on BD. Still missing on BD in Region "A" are the following titles in this set:

  1. Island in the Sky (1953)
  2. The High and the Mighty (1954)
  3. Donovan’s Reef (1963)
  4. In Harm’s Way (1965)
  5. The Shootist (1976)

There has been major complaints about Hatari needing a new BD release because the prior BD had a poor video presentation. I have the five above titles digitally in HD, but I prefer to own them on Region "A" BD too. I do have the German BD of The Shootist.

Finally Paramount is releasing "In Harm's Way" on Blu-ray. The release date is June 29th.
