Welcome to my Peter Sellers vs. Alec Guinness Tournament.

Not sure if this one will fly, but I thought I'd give it a try!

I'm shooting for eight films per actor - I've already seeded the Guinness field with Star Wars - not my first choice I assure you, but its inclusion here is a certainty. That said, I will NOT be accepting noms for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

I've already seeded the Sellers field with Dr. Strangelove - an obvious choice. I'll only be accepting ONE Pink Panther film - the first to get thirded makes it in, any others nominated will be pitched.

Note: I'm giving Guinness the rights to The Ladykillers since it's primarily his show.

Four nominations, four seconds, and four thirds for everyone.

Alec Guinness
  1. [*]The Bridge on the River Kwai[*]The Horse's Mouth[*]Kind Hearts and Coronets[*]The Ladykillers[*]Star Wars

Peter Sellers
  1. [*]Being There[*]Dr. Strangelove[*]Lolita[*]A Shot in the Dark

Nominations

Dr. Zhivago (Guinness)*
Great Expectations
I Love You, Alice B. Toklas (Sellers)
I'm All Right Jack
The Lavender Hill Mob (Guinness)
Little Dorritt
The Man in the White Suit
Murder By Death (Guinness)*
Murder By Death (Sellers)*
Oliver Twist (Guinness)*
The Road to Hong Kong (Sellers)

Movies marked with an asterisk have been seconded and are in need of a third.

I'll be doing mega-abstaining during most of this, but I've got a feeling the final round will look a lot like the automatic seeds.

Second:
Bridge on the River Kwai

Nominate:
Being There (Sellers)
Lolita (Sellers)

List updated.

George, good call on Murder By Death - I'd forgotten they were both in it. :b

I finished off my Peter Sellers box set last night by watching Hoffman. :emoji_thumbsup: Very nice performance from Sellers in a straight role. Check it out!

Erik, with only eight films per actor, I'm limiting Sellers to one Pink Panther film. Sorry! :)

No problem, so which one is in?

EDIT: Oops, just read your rules (:b ) so I guess A Shot in the Dark is in.

I'll second or third:

Kind Hearts and Coronets (Guinness)*
The Ladykillers (Guinness)
Murder By Death (Guinness)
Murder By Death (Sellers)

Sellers is brilliant in A Shot in the Dark, and I have no problem with that being the Clouseau movie. However, I would've picked The Pink Panther Strikes Again.

They're also both in Ladykillers, but I ran out of nominations, so only listed Guinness for that film.

Thanks to Jan, I can second it :)

Second:

Ladykillers (Sellers)

Third:

The Lavender Hill Mob (Guinness)

and since I get one of my nominations back for Pink Panther, I go with one of Sellers lesser known roles

Nominate:

The Road to Hong Kong (Sellers)

Third
The Horse's Mouth, just saw it last night :emoji_thumbsup:

I won't be able to participate much in this one, haven't seen most of these films. Unfortunately Netflix doesn't carry the Alec Guiness box.

Let's try to get this thing rolling.

Two more noms, seconds, and thirds for everyone who has participated thus far.

Where's Lew? I think I'm All Right Jack is one of his faves...
