How many remember or liked this show?

I just found out that it is on [email protected] (late night) and have fallen in love with the show again.

I just think that Larry and Balki made an excellent duo and they played off of each other so well. The erratic and usually deceitful Larry contrasted by the naive and trusting Balki. Mix in the comic timing and excellent physical comedy and you have a primetime hit.

I think I just enjoy the show so much because it always appears like they are having a blast making it. Take a show I saw the other night where they get on this gameshow that has you answer a question or do a physical challenge (similar to supersloppy doubledare). That one is just a classic.

Don't forget that it launched the spinoff hit Family Matters as well.

So who out there are Perfect Strangers fans?? And when will this show ever come to dvd?

    Jason,

I remember LOVEING this show when it intially aired back when I was a kid (27 now). It was one of those shows that was consciously cheesy, and portrayed behaviour of characters that would never fly in real life...

    ...but...

you couldn't help but to love it. [IMG]

    "Cooozin' Larry!" [IMG]

I sort of lost track of the show though when they moved out of the appartment and into the house with the girls.

    Oh, and TonyD,

Of course I liked it, don't be ridiculous!

I did always enjoy Balki's butchering of old adages:

"Try me for treason and call me Eggs Benedict."
"When life gives you lemons, make furniture polish."

This show was great! I wish I had Nickelodeon...[IMG]

    "Oh my Lord..." [IMG]

I remember seeing the series finale, but I didn't know that it was ending at the time. I just remember seeing the guys playing Larry and Belki bowing to an audience at the end. [IMG]

    Now we're talking. [IMG]

I don't even remember the finale. It looks like Nickelodeon is playing them in sequence though so in due time.

    Ahh yes, Balki-isms.

    "You are wasting your breath-mints."
"Stop it! This is a man of the loincloth!"
"Well rub my chest and call me Vix"
"Well bang my bongos and call me Desi!"
"Well, throw acid rain on my parade!"

Yep, I loved it. I have three seasons of it on tape. Did it really launch Family Matters? How were the Winslows introduced on the show?

    Good show.

The Family Matters connection was Harriet, if I remember correctly. She was Larry's co-worker I think and was the mother/wife on Family Matters.

Yeah Harriette Winslow was the elevator operator with them at the Chicago Chronicle. Carl also made a few appearances I believe. They were just in for 2 seasons before Family Matters got launched.

I didn't realize that there were 150 episodes and 8 seasons.

Now we are so happy, we do the Dance of Joy! [IMG]

I remember liking this show as a kid (especially the theme song). But after watching a few episodes on [email protected], I couldn't really get back into it. Same thing happened with MacGyver, but not Cheers or The Cosby Show. Maybe Beverly Hills Cop ruined Balki for me? =)

One of my favorite sitcoms of all time!

You don't see these "buddy" comedies anymore, and it is reminiscent of "Bosom Buddies" and "Laverne & Shirley" that came before it.

The off-screen friendship was quite apparent on-screen and enhanced the great comedic chemistry.

Yeah their friendship and onscreen chemistry really made the show what it was.

Does anyone know what happened to the guy that played Larry? I don't think I've seen him in anything since. Bronson Pinchot is actually in town(denver) now doing a play. I can't remember the name of it though. The last thing I remember him doing though was that show with the little kid from Jerry Maguire.

According to Reginald VelJohnson's profile at the IMDB, he made one guest star appearance:

"Perfect Strangers" (1986) playing "Carl Winslow" in episode: "Crimebusters" (episode # 4.12) 20 January 1989

    Gotta love the IMDB.

A side drift, but I was always amazed at how they just got rid of Judy on Family Matters. No explanation of where she went or if they even cared. I guess it had a bad affect on her because she went on to become an adult film star under the name "Crave". That should be in the new Trivial Pursuit. [IMG]

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Man, I'm an idiot. I DO have Nickelodeon on my cable lineup (I just never watch it, because I didn't know Perfect Strangers was showing on it), but according to the listings at Yahoo!, Perfect Strangers is off the schedule after the Febraury 17th showing. [IMG]

I used to love this show. I haven't caught any of the reruns on [email protected] yet though. It was a funny, funny show. [IMG]
