I have never seen anything worse on DTV in my life. The squares were so big even my wife noticed them. During the storm sequences near the end the PQ was absolutley unforgivable. I've always looked at HBO as being the flagship of all premium channels.
Why do they allow Directv to destroy their signal like that? After tonight I may have to go back to C-band for my premium programming. The more DVD you watch the less you can tolerate piss poor picture quality. Directv is quickly climbing my list of things to throw out into the woods.

Dish isn't much better anymore, but the HDTV feed of HBO on Dish is awesome. Perfect storm was perfect DD and 1080i.

No complaints here, Dish was very nice for Perfect Storm, only 2 audio drops for me.

I find that water is one of the hardest things for MPEG encoding to do, esp when they are being skimpy with the bitrate.
