Vanilla Pepsi to take on Coke in cola wars


NEW YORK - Vanilla is the latest flavor in the cola wars.

Pepsi is joining Coke in offering a vanilla flavored cola product. Some 90 million cases of Vanilla Coke have been sold since its introduction last May. Now, Coke's rival hopes vanilla lovers will want to join the Pepsi Generation.

It is the no. 3 best selling bottled soda for Coca Cola. Not bad I'd say. Personally I like the Diet version. To each his own.

I like Vanilla coke, Didn't much care for it at first, but it definitely grew on me.

Even better, in 50 hours Lent is over, so I can actually drink sodas again for the first time in six and a half weeks. Can't wait.

Vanilla Coke and Cherry Coke are the only versions of Coke I will drink. Regular leaves a sticky film on my teeth, that's gross.

I can't wait for Vanilla Pepsi.

I liked Crystal Pepsi. Crystal gravy wasn't so good though.

Crystal gravy was an SNL spoof on Crystal Pepsi for those who didn't know.

I love Vanilla Coke and they had a nice ad campaign to go with it. It was calm and soothing with Chazz Palminteri lending his voice for the mobster commercials. Pepsi's rocknroll ad campaign with their Blue flavored drink tried to appeal to the "younger generation" Guess it was too young since it flopped, oh and it didn't taste that great either.

I LOVED the Crystal Pepsi, and was very disappointed when they stopped making it. I am also in agreement that the diet variety of Vanilla Coke is preferable, though I am tending to prefer the flavor of diet sodas lately. Maybe I should start a thread about that...

I've tried giving Vanilla Coke a chance, regular and diet, but it hasn't grown on me. Maybe i'll give Vanilla Pepsi a chance.

Looks like Pepsi Blue will go the way of Crystal Pepsi. I remember liking Crystal Pepsi. Pepsi Blue is about the nastiest soda drink I ever tasted.

I've been enjoying the new 7up flavors. I'm not sure how far the new flavors reach across the country, but they are pretty good.

I'm always amazed by the Pepsi vs. Coke debates, with each side claiming to absolutely hate the taste of the other. Heck, we buy whichever one is on sale. They taste different to me, but not that different.

Well, I'd like to give my own shout-out to Vanilla Coke. It is great in a chilled glass packed with ice. MMMMM
I will try the Pepsi, I usually don't like much of their stuff. Crystal was good though.
