i'm looking to include a whole-house audio system in our new house that's under construction. i've looked into the digital music servers like marantz, yamaha, escient and others. these look nice but are fairly pricey. what i'd like to know is if there's anyone out there that's done this using your pc. i'd like to be able to access the music from any room that will have speakers. i found a product made by rockford called omnifi that seems to do this but wasn't sure if it allows for a multi room install. thanks for any help.

Also, if you've not looked around already, try the HTPC forum at AVS. They do all sorts of crazy serves and LAN stuff over there. I'm sure if you look hard enough, you can build a system that does this, without paying TONS of money for a big professional system. However, it will likely take a lot of time.
