Both are widescreen. I went back to my local pawn shop and it looks like the contence of someone's home collection made it on the shelf. Those were two movies I have wanted for years, and being they were cheap and both widescreen, I went for it.

However, they have a few THROUSAND CD's, and they all sucked. Not a single one I would have wanted, even if free.

It is all hit or miss, but the hunt is as fun as the rewards.

Just curious, but what's the point?

Random pawn shop deals don't seem like a valid subject for a national message board concerning on-going retail bargains.

If other readers can't partake, why post?

Your topic lures in readers (170 and counting) who want the same price, but cannot have it.

    Just my 2 cents.

Sorry [email protected] but I think your post is kind of rude. Since I don't normaly frequent pawnshops I would never have thought to check them for bargains. If you think a post is a waste of time move on, better yet don't click on it. Don't assume that everyone feels the same as you do.

    Thanks for the tip Kenneth.

My local pawn shop sells $5.95 DVDs. I saw "Ghost World", "Easy Rider", and "Say Anything" at that price. They have hundreds of DVDs, but hardly any of the titles (including "Galaxy Quest") appeal to me. About half of their DVDs are Warner snapper case favorites such as "Fair Game" and "[insert Gene Hackman film title]".

My pawn now has a stunning NINE copies of "Fair Game" all lined up in a row. Sad. Truly sad. They raised their prices to $6.95 each, still not bad. But they have literally 400 DVDs that basically all suck. Looking back at this thread, I'm kicking myself for not picking up that copy of "Ghost World" when I saw it. I just rented it and forgot how great it is! Needless to say, it's no longer at the pawn shop.

I hate it when that happens! I'll pass over what I think is a marginal film and then when I get home I'll just happen to read a comment on it that will heighten my interest. Of course it's gone - it's always gone when I go back.

The only DVDs I don't see at pawn shops are concert DVDs. For some reason people don't seen to sell those - or they are picked up as soon as they are displayed.

I pass on most TV box sets at pawn shops. They are often sold at the price of a regular movie times the number of disks in the set. Usually that winds up being only slightly lower in price than a new box set.

    Akira (Special Edition,metal case)
    Punch-Drunk Love
    Barbershop
