Talk about a new directon for a classic franchise,

I have yet to see something from this director that is not slick and techno edged, wonder how they can blend that with Castlevania's themes?

Is there even electricity in the World of Castlevania?

As am I. Van Helsing had a better cast, and look how that did [IMG]

Still, I am open to being shocked.

Great, that's terrific. Given this guy's track record (he hasn't made a single good movie ever IMO), I will expect the worst. Such a shame; I'm a fan of the franchise.

To me, Simon's Quest and the CV for SNES were the best, followed by SOTN.

To paraphrase Richter from SOTN: "His words are as empty as his soul. Mankind ill needs a director such as him."
I hold out little hope for this living up to the Castlevania name.

How can someone see Anderson's recent movies and say, "Hey! He should make Castlevania! Money."

    I just don't understand.

Well, at least the soundtrack will be phenomenal, if they have the good sense to use the actual music from the games.

The Genesis version (Castlevania: Bloodlines) is set in the early 20th century, and one of the levels takes place in a factory.

That said, my ideal Castlevania film would be based on Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. The soundtrack, the eerie atmosphere...

Stephen Sommers and Paul Anderson I sometimes feel are the same person.

This is horrible news. One of the best game franchises in the world is about to get a horrendous film treatment. Yay. [IMG]

The more I think about this, the more it just grates on my nerves!

I was playing Simon's Quest yesterday, thinking about when that game originally came out in the late 80s. I had envisioned this epic, creepy and atmospheric storyline and marveled at what an excellent film it would make should the project fall into the right hands.

Now Anderson is going to make a soulless and thoughtless (a prequel!?!?) bastardization of that terrific franchise.

Castlevania: The Movie needs to be about Simon Belmont and his quest to kill Dracula. It certainly shouldn't be a needless precursor to the games detailing Dracula's first encounter with the Belmont clan. That's NOT Castlevania. That's Hollywood thoughtlessly cashing in on an established name without any care or respect for the source material. [IMG]
