Oops. Sorry about that. At least I started on topic :) Anyway, I hope you find some of Brett's advice and my experiences useful when working with the PE vinyl stuff.

Laminate is relatively easy. You've got the drift of how to apply and trim it. Lowe's and Home Depot both carry black laminate and it's fairly inexpensive. IMHO, it's the most durable finish you can do for a speaker cabinet. NOT my favorite obviously, but it works for subwoofers that are partially or totally hidden from view. Also, I like to use it on the back of larger speakers, rather than painting them. I don't like to waste expensive exotic hardwood veneers by veneering the backs of tower speakers. For monitor size speakers, do like Brian and veneer all the way around with the cheaper veneers like oak and maple.
