You guys own this, right? I'd love to see it. And, at only five seasons, the entire run wouldn't set us back too much.

Assuming things go well for you with the new Trek boxes, I hope you will be branching out into other TV shows. The Brady Bunch would be a fine start.

If Brady Bunch was priced reasonably, I would strong consider buying it.

I'd definitely buy this; it'd also be cool if they included the commercials that were shown during their original airing or at least some from that era (when TV was still about the PICTURE!)

I don't see the commercial thing happening, but it seems to be a pretty popular idea. I've seen it mentioned a few times in several different contexts now. I guess if TV Land can run Retromercials every now and again, a company could put some on their TV discs. I'd certainly welcome it, as long as you could turn them on or off at will.

I also would enjoy seeing such a set, but I'm not too optimistic about it.

A few months ago, the Washington Post ran an article on how the actor who played Mr. Brady (WHY CAN'T I THINK OF HIS NAME? I CAN REMEMBER ANN B. DAVIS!!) negotiated the rights to his likeness on merchandise. If you happen to see ANY newer Brady memorabilia, you will notice that dad is conspicuously absent. In some cases, he is digitally removed from family photos. This is because the owners of his estate will not give permission without some serious $$$.

Apparently, people were thinking that this was because he had died of aids, thus, the research for the article. The Post showed several examples of new merchandise, sans Mr. Brady.

Now, whether or not DVD copies of the show constitutes as "merchandise", that's for the lawyers to decide.

Not what I wanted to hear, perhaps, but I suppose it is far better to know not to expect something than to be left wondering. Thanks for the reply!

I have the Brady Bunch Variety Hour DVD, which is owned by Krofft productions- priceless stuff, though the disc has digital artifacts. I think Columbia House put out the original show on VHS, maybe they could do it on DVD if Paramount isn't going to?

How about considering this for 2004 - the show's 35th anniversary year? That would be enough time to remaster and restore it. I'm willing to wait, as long as it's done right. Some of us would really like to see these episodes uncut.

How would the Robert Reed situation affect a possible DVD release? I could see the estate preventing his likeness from appearing on the cover or in any promo material, but would they have any say as far as the actual episodes go? I don't know the legalities, but I'm under the impression that already created material controlled by the studio would be unaffected.
Rob, I like your idea. I can wait until 2004. [IMG]

Well, now that TV on DVD is starting to become big business, have the chances improved for the BB? [IMG]

I would also purchase Brady Bunch (TV) ON DVD but only if it released in season-by-season sets.

Since there is a new thread about the Brady Bunch in Software, I'll take the liberty of reviving this thread to head off another being created here. Hope it's okay.
I'll reiterate what I said in the other thread: in advance of season sets (I would buy every season), I would love to see something like a "Brady Bunch Vacations" disc, with the Hawaiian episodes as the centerpiece. Maybe to test the waters?
Mr. Blythe, if anything has changed, I'd love your input. [IMG]

I would buy it if it inluded the original "In Color" card (which was on the best of vhs copies) and the original Paramount logo....I grew up with this show and want to see it as close as possible to the original.
