Martin,
Anything new yet on what to expect from the complete line of Star Trek TV series DVDs? Extras? Pricing?
And will the original series ever be rereleased in boxed sets with extras?
Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions!

Last I heard we were looking at early next year before anything arrives. That being the case, I would not plan on hearing more news about it until towards the end of this year.
I could be wrong though. I have been in the past (once, I think, but they might bave been lying).

And, in case my question got lost in the last thread, please give us a rough idea of when we can expect the other series besides TNG, Martin. In other words, will we have to wait a few months for, say, Voyager, or will it be longer? Hopefully not after all seven seasons of TNG come out! I know none of that is likely set in stone at this point, but a tentative response would be appreciated.

Let me get Star Trek: TMP announced first (in the next week or 10 days) and then we'll worry about the Next Gen season box sets. Yep...

Martin,
Thank you for the continued updates on all things Trek.
One little question that you are under no obligation to answer: was the release of TMP, the end of TOS, rumors for TNG and the premiere of Enterprise planned? It seems like an awful convenient coincidence for it all to happen within the same four month period.
Of course, this is just me with my conspiracy theories.

Okay...
Daron asked 2 questions...
Martin gave 2 answers...
Anyone else notice Martin's "Yep..." after he already answered the first question?
Was that a hint about a future TOS re-release w/ extras?
Or, is it another Warren Commission type coincidence?
Will I get in trouble for this?
Joel

Martin-
I would also like to send my thanks for your continued contributions here on Trek and other Paramount releases.
One thing I'd be curious of. During the laserdisc days, Paramount did a cool thing I think. It was a pretty smart marketing plan. There were releases of Star Trek themed sets. I would like to see those as DVD's as I would not necessary want to collect every Next Gen episode. The ones that I recall I bought were the "Q" episodes, "The Borg Episodes", "The Captains" ( these were one show from each of the 4 series). I'd love to see that on DVD at some point in the future.
Thanks, Nelson

Nelson,
Theme sets are ok if they offer Season Box sets as well. I want to see them all in order and not someone elses idea of what would be good in a collection of 4 or 5 episodes.
Granted not every episode is a keeper but what's the point of having just a few. When I finally get TOS DVD #40 it will be an impressive display.

Frank-
I was speaking to these theme sets in addition to the whole season releases, that is a granted.
Yes, I look forward to the 40th set of TOS DVD too. When there's TNG and the other Trek series in whole seasons too, then that's great for all the fans. I'll be picking my faves from those series as the come out.

Joel,
I noticed the very same thing! I do indeed believe Martin was trying to send us a message about future TOS DVDs with extras. Condition green. All is well. :)
If that's true, I'll be a very happy camper.

Oh Man.
Would I be a little more than disappointed if I spent over $500 on 40 discs comprising 3 seasons of one show, only to have them re-released significantly cheaper, more compact AND WITH EXTRAS! Talk about indifference to the true fans...
On another, positive, wishful note, how cool would it be if Paramount FINALLY got the infamous blooper footage added to the final disc in the set. I have a few on an old Goodtimes VHS from many years ago.
Classic Trek Outakes are very fun!!

I have no idea where you guys are getting new releases of TOS out of "yep". I believe Mr. Bylthe was just making a little joke about finally confirming that TNG would be in season boxsets as opposed to something like the way TOS was released. People here have been trying to confirm seasons boxsets since it was revealed that other trek series were coming out.

Put some bloopers on it and some behinds the scenes stuff.
There could be some big announcements in the next few weeks with the 35th Anniversary around the corner.
We can only hope.

Mikel got me all excited. This thread has been dead for a few days and when I saw there was a reply I figured Martin had posted an update.

But Mikel is right! The anniversary is September 8th... with the first episode of Enterprise set to air just about three weeks after that.
Maybe Paramount is gearing up for a big announcement! They have tons of material that would make an original series box set very special...behind the scenes footage, outtakes, commentary, network promos, photos, scripts, etc. etc.
I was collecting the current DVD series. However, now I see what a ridiculous choice that was, since it's all but certain that something much more exciting is just around the corner.

No one should get excited about TOS coming out in any new configurations any time soon. That was not what I intended to imply.
