No. On Kaladascape too, coming out on 4K disc soon, will probably appear on the other services sometime between now and then.

I just found this thread! Well, I am surprised that this new 4K is coming so soon after the 2020 blu ray. I’ll be pre-ordering it too. As with all recent Paramount 4K discs, it’s unfortunate a blu ray disc is not included. I look forward to see how this looks.

I have a Paramount+ subscription. I just tried to sample the new 4K to see how it looks. It seems I can‘t see it, I believe I’m seeing the HD version. Maybe because I don’t have an included Showtime subscription? I thought my account would be grandfathered in.

I haven't seen for myself, but someone earlier said P+ doesn't seem to have this latest, updated 4K... and IMHO, that's unfortunately not surprising at all (anymore) given my own previous experience w/ P+...

I can personally confirm that this new 4K digital on iTunes is not currently available on Paramount+.

Is this new 4K digital file ONLY available on iTunes, yes or no?
It's now on Vudu too.

I have the 2012 Blu-Ray (the first version of this film I ever saw), the 2020 Blu-Ray, and the post-2020 initial 4K digital release. I also just rented the newest version on iTunes yesterday to see how I thought it compared to those prior versions….

Overall this version of the movie appears to me to be much more vibrant and lively and sports a warmer overall palette than either the 2012 release (which I think pushed a bit green across the board) or the 2020 release ('nuff said) and the level of detail here looked pleasing.… you will find this to be the best looking version of this film released to date.
Excellent summary. My observations also.

As to the car closeups, I wonder if two different car setups were used in which one wasn’t actually an operational vehicle.

So, I see observations on colors, detail etc. on the new 4k digital version.
The thing that I'd like to know:
Is there grain?

The only things to me making this version less than perfect were the framing/composition compared to the 2012 Blu-Ray and those convertible closeups. If you are untroubled by these, you will find this to be the best looking version of this film released to date.
The 2012 blu also appears to have been sharpened slightly.

I replayed that car sequence with Grant and Kelly a couple of times today. I think the car(s) look as they intended them to be. For the most part, the car is clearly blue. There are a couple of closeups in which it's possible a different vehicle setup was used without wheels against rear projection in which lighting might have slightly changed the vehicle color. I don't think that's an error caused by whomever worked on this newest 4K scan.

Thank you Man and Robert!

It is odd that when I selected To Catch a Thief on Paramount+, the page for it shows the specs of the video and it shows it is available in 4K. I believe you guys so I’m not disputing you, just trying to figure out Paramount+ shows this. It must be an earlier 4K edition and not from the new remaster. Regardless, when I play it, it’s not showing as 4K. Excuse the image quality:

I did check-out iTunes and I see it’s for sale for $14.99. I’ll wait a while before buying the iTunes version. I’d rather have the disc. :)

@Nelson Au It is in 4K/Dolby Vision on Paramount+ but it's the older 4K digital that was on iTunes and other services back in 2020 until recently.

Thanks Robert, so the 4K is an earlier version. But when I play it, it just shows as HD, not 4K. So unsure if my subscription is a barrier or something else. Maybe I’ll fiddle around with it later.

If you don't have Paramount+ with Showtime plan, you won't be able to watch in 4K/Dolby Vision or Atmos.

I watched a few minutes of it on iTunes tonight. Wow! Breathtaking!
Wonderful color, detail. Grain is present too. If it wasn’t too late I’d watch more of the film.

I’ll watch it another night this week though!

Paramount + did not grandfather us early subscribers then to add Showtime for us. :(

Before they merged the two together, you coulda added Showtime for extra cost (and I've done that before), so... from that POV, there's nothing to grandfather about that. You're just getting the same w/out Showtime as before.

What's not grandfathered is access to 4K for the ad-supported, basic (or "Essential") tier, and that's presumably what you have. They've apparently decided to reorg into that ad-supported, basic P+ tier (w/out Showtime and w/out 4K/Atmos) and a premium P+ tier (that includes Showtime, etc).

Unfortunately, that just seems to be the recent practice/trend w/ most of the various subscription streamers...
