If anyone at Paramount is reading this, please release the fabulous Patrice Leconte film "Girl on the Bridge." Presently, this is only available on VHS, and in the wrong aspect ratio to boot.
How about giving us a proper 2.35:1 DVD of this terrific French film?

That's really a shame. One of the best films of 2000 (and best-reviewed) dumped onto VHS because of "economics." If I were a filmmaker, I'd be furious.
And good luck finding this to rent on VHS as well-- the only store I know that carries it in Los Angeles is the art-house boutique CineFile. I asked at Blockbuster and got the "who farted?" look.
But thank god PET SEMATARY 2 was just released on DVD! Whew.

My local Blockbuster has a few used VHS copies for $7.99. Guess I will hold my nose & pick one up because I LOVE this movie.

I know this has come up before. Martin, I would like to request that if Paramount does not find this an economically viable film to license it to Criterion. This would seem to be right up their alley, and I would think they could do well with it.

I would agree with Mark that Paramount should consider licensing titles they will not be releasing themselves to either Criterion or Anchor Bay. I don't see how this couldn't be a win-win situation for both companies and fans: Paramount would get a licensing fee for something that wouldn't be making anything otherwise, and the fans would get a top notch DVD of their favorite films. I really hope you look into this seriously.
