You should specify whether those are with veneer or laminate. Price diff is $200 USD. The prices are listed separately at Secrets for laminate and veneer.

For now, laminate. sound is most important. Thanks for the input guys. Eric gave a link that gave american prices. And Trent gave prices in Canadian Dollers? Why are they allmost the same?

Because Paradigm charges more to U.S. customers, not because of increased expenses or anything, but merely because they believe that Americans have more money than Canadians and therefore will pay a higher price.

Bit of a comedy of errors this thread. Mathew asked why the prices are almost the *same* between the American prices at my link and the Canadian prices that Trent listed, not why Paradigm typically charges more in the U.S. And I was asking Trent, not Matthew, about veneer vs. laminate. I too noticed the price similarity, and was asking Trent whether his listed prices are for veneer or laminate. Mathew, I assume Trent's Canadian prices are for the veneer. Therefore, you can compare them directly to the veneer prices at the Secrets website, and you will see the big discrepancy between American and Canadian prices. You can deduct about $300 CND from each of Trent's prices to get the laminate price, I think. If his prices are for laminate, then this dealer quoted him prices above the Canadian MSRP.

These are the Canadian MSRP for Veneer I recently received from a dealer in Quebec:

Studio/20 $1100

Studio/40 $1450

Studio/60 $2000

Studio/80 $2400

Studio/100 $3000

Servo-15 $2200

For what it's worth...

Well I guess Trent's were for laminate. I thought the Canadian price were substantially cheaper than US prices, but it appears they are only about 10-15% less. I am assuming the exchange rate is 1.5 to 1.

Just to nip this in the bud, lots of companies charge different rates for their products in different countries. A Canadian might pay less for Paradigms in Canada, for example, but a Canadian would also pay MORE for other components, like Harman/Kardon.

Umm...

Futureshop isn't a Paradigm dealer.

They sell speakers like Bose, Polk, JBL and Cerwin Vega.

Hmm, thats funny, I just bought my monitor series speakers from Paul at the actual Toronto store, he gave me that website to check other products. Maybe I am wrong on the website name. Paradigm is made in Canada, and the prices were considerably cheaper, especially when buying more expensive items.

Paradigm does not permit any of its vendors to sell online. There are B&M Paradigm vendors who sell over their websites, but they do not sell their Paradigms that way, only their other brands. Perhaps that clears up the confusion.

Again, to clarify, I didn't buy my paradigms on line, nor did I say I did. Paradigm is an extremely dilligent manufacturer, who is very selective when it comes to their dealers. However, the store in which I bought them from, does have a website. I also spoke to a customs agent, or impoprt Specialist in Newark, NJ, to find out about my stinkin speakers, and Products made in Canada, yes, are covered by the Nafta Agreement, but have to be acompanied by paperwork saying such. That is why customs is holding my speakers. Apparently waiting for the original Nafta release forms from the dealer where I bought them from in TORONTO. I didn't want to get into a pissing match with anyone, I was basically informing the above individual that I saved, and he can save a bundle of cash on some damn decent speakers if he is willing to travel a bit!

The prices I posted are for the laminate finshes. I knew that I'd forget to include something important in my reply.
Dang those flying fingers when they hit the submit button.. :)

I just bought some Paradigm speakers.

I got the lowest price from this forum and then went shopping.

Regina dealer matched the best price.

Than called the small Indy guy in Yorkton Sask.

Small shop low overhead , he beat the system price by over $100.

Worth a call

Mr. Stereo

Yorkton Sask

call directory assistance for number ,don't have it handy.
