StevieC,
The 20 is rear ported. Right now I have the 20's in the rear of a 5.1 setup. They are on very sturdy "custom" shelves about 3 foot up and 1 foot back. The backs of the 20's are about 6 inches from the wall. I can't ever say i've had an issue with the rear ports. It's most likely because they are set to small and crossed over at 80 Hz. I have heard them sound muddy when they are being run large and being fed the signal of the mains. If you run them large another alternative would be to plug the ports which should alleviate the problem but still allow substantial bass output. The plugs were a suggestion from Paradigm themselves...they also sell plugs. In any event i'm sure you could work around a rear port issue.
