It seems I am getting mis-information about what models, i.e Studio 40's, 60, etc. can be purchased with magnetic shielding. Can someone please clarify this for me?

Thanks are in advance,
Charles

Steve,
On this post.. http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...threadid=60125
Frank has written that he has the Studio 60's shielded. So at this point, we have the 20's (I own these myself) 40's and 60's that can be shielded.
However, my best guess also is that they can only be shielded in black ash and are NOT available in the other finishes with magnetic shielding?
Correct me if I am wrong..

Well I'm going by what my dealer told me, but when I ordered my 40's in the rosenut veneer he told me I could get them shielded (magne-shield). I didn't need shielded so I didn't question him on that.

Chas,
I looked into this subject a lot before I bought my new speakers. Working through the local b&m Paradigm dealer, I can tell you this. The reference line is shielded up to the 60's. The 80's and 100's are not. My dealer called Paradigm and asked if a set of 100's could be custom built using the shielded drivers. The answer was "no". Given the 80/100's extra drivers that the rest of the line doesn't have, those are the ones keeping the big speaks from being shielded. Of the one's that can be shielded, it is an option. You must request specifcally for the shielded version. Note also that the shielded versions only come in black laminate. The other beautiful woods that grace the rest of the line are not and will not be offered in shielded versions. I spent a lot of time checking this out and talking to my local store/Paradigm and even Mitsubishi regarding floorstanding speakers (shielded and unshielded) being placed next to my rptv.
Final point ended up as: Mitsu says speakers must be at least a foot away if not shielded, Paradigm does not make the 80/100's in shielded versions and I'm bummed b/c I wanted Paradigm and ended up with PSB. (they're ok, just would have preferred the Digm's).
Hope this helps,
MM
p.s.-if you're curious about the color/wood combination on the shielded versions, to Paradigm's website, download the brochure (in pdf) and look at the very last page that shows what models are available as shielded and what colors (aka: black) that they come in.

Guys,
Here is the deal on the shielding question for ALL Paradigm Reference Studio products per their tech support.
"The Studio/20v.2, Studio/40v.2 and Studio/60v.2 can be special-ordered in a shielded version (only in Black Ash wood veneer or Black Ash vinyl laminate)for a premium price.
Of course, the Studio/CC is only available with Magneshield."
I think the premium price is $30.
I wonder about ver. 3 when they are released?? :)
Thanks for your posts.

The 20's 40's 60s can be had in Magneshield for $30 extra. I do not think you need them with a RPTV though.
