I have settled on the Paradigm Studio 20's and see that they are 250.00 extra for the wood. I want to know if the wood in anyway improves the sound or is it all simply a matter of finish and aesthetics. I am on a tight budget but will try to rustle up the extra cash if its worth it. Keep in mind that I am coming from a JBL-N26 package to a Paradigm Studio series speaker setup, so I'm sure that regardless of finish, I should here a pretty big difference.

    Thanks,

Reggie, the wood is for Aesthetics only. There are some who feel the wood stabalizes the bracing of the cabinet, improving sound, but that claim is not substantiated by Paradigm and I feel the cabinetry is first rate on these speakers, whether you get them in black laminate or one of the veneer finishes. If you are strapped for cash, go with the black...they'll sound the same in my opinion.
