Ok I have eliminated dipoles and have to compliment my
Monitor 11 v3, cc-370, denon 3802 setup with direct rears...

I don't have a sub as of yet, but that's to come in the next year.

I can get the minimonitors for 279 us
and the monitor 5s for 404 - I forgot what the 3s were...

Is it worth it to step up the 130 bucks for the monitor 5s? I'll prob use the rears for both HT and music.

If it will make a difference then I'll go fer the 5s...

I have Mini-Monitors for rears and Monitor 9s up front. Minis (2 Driver) are super responsive and are rear-ported. A lot of folks use 'em as mains.

Monitor 5s (3 Driver, front ported) in the rear wud be nice for 5-channel Stereo music(when a sub comes)and somewaht overkill for DVD HT tracks, and I think it limits you to floor placement on stands. 5s weigh 27# per and stand 16in high, and Minis 16# and 13 1/2 in tall. I am in the process of mounting my Minis on the wall using B-Tech B-77 mounts from Crutchfield rated to 55# each.

5s are not front ported, and the 3s no longer are either.

I think the Minis are more than capable of handling surround duty. 5s do not have much lower extension than the Minis, but have a higher sensitivity.

I use the minis for surrounds with my 5's....I, too, have them mounted on the B-tech brackets....used to have micros, then atoms in the back, but when I went with the minis the sense of envelopment significantly improved with HT. I say go with the minis [IMG]

Ummm... I have Mini Monitors on the back and ADP 370s on the sides...

Shouldn't this be in the Speakers Forum?
