I listened to the "Atom" and "Titan" today at my local Paradigm dealer. WOW!!! They sounded great in 2 ch stereo and a Steely Dan CD on!! I liked the Titans a bit more because they sounded deeper than the Atoms. My dealer will give me 10% off of list price, which I guess it okay. Maybe they will negotiate more if I pushed a bit.
Anyways, I have some questions. Although I did not listen to the "Focus", how does it compare to the "Titans"? Also, is the CC-270 worth the extra $90 more than the CC-170? If I went with either the "Titans" or the "Focus" would the CC-170 be enough?

Thanks
Gov

Welcome to the big debate!!!;) I listened for a while before making my choice...
The Focus had more depth than I felt in the Titans or Atoms.
(And for that matter sounded, to me, more spatial than the mini monitors... I really wanted the minis but I let my ears decide.)
The cc270 is by far the better choice, same cone and tweets as the Focus, more seamless transition in the front soundstage... I think you'll be disappinted in the 170, but that's what was right for me...You have to decide for yourself. Good luck, you could drive yourself nuts with this stuff...I did:D

I haven't heard the Focus speakers yet, but loved the Titans and Atoms. In fact, we gave my nephew a new pair of Titans for his H.S. graduation gift this past spring.

The performance series offers some outstanding value for the money. Also, as suggested, I'd opt for the "270" for the center channel.

I picked up a pair of Esprits (still the performance line). More bass, and more mid range detail, at the cost of a bit of "tizzle" on the tweeter. A worthwhile compromise IMHO.

Mike Gov,

Here is an email response from Gary Takeda a while back regarding the center channels in the Performance line:
-------------------------------------------------------
Hi Yung

The "Recommended Systems" only list some of the possible combinations of
models.

The CC-270 and CC-170 both match well with the Titans but the larger model
provides better clarity and range than the smaller center channel.

Thanks for your interest in Paradigm speakers.

Sincerely,
Gary Takeda

Hope this helps you,
