First off I would like to tell everyone how great this site is. I have been lurking for awhile and have learned tons.

Looking at paradigm studio 20s plus a 470 center.. version 3 or 4 not sure. I will probably end up buying used. What other speakers can I look at that would be equal too or greater than the paradigm studio lineup. They can be floor speaker they dont have to be bookshelf speakers. Thanks joe

how big of a difference is there between the studio 2,3 and 4? thanks

I assume that you've listened to the Studio 20s and like them? The v2 Studios were Paradigm's top of the line speakers. The v3 and v4 came out with the signature line (which is their top end design). The price point for the v3 and v4 have slowly increased with each version. I own v2 studio 40s and have heard v4 studio 40s and the sound quality is similar (slight improvements at high SPL with the v4). IMO the v2 are still great speakers (and can be had at a much lower cost used).

Thanks Greg that was exactly the info I was looking for. It is the nicest I have heard so far. Is there any other speakers I should be considering such as bower and wilkins, aperion, energy?

All I can say is go listen to them. Personally I liked the Paradigm sound much more (that's why I own them). I also liked PSB loudspeakers when I was shopping, you may want to check them out.
