I see folks refer to their Paradigm speakers (Reference Series, Studio, or CC) as v.1 or v.2. (e.g. Studio 40 v.1, or Studio CC v.2).
What does that mean?? Can you still buy v.1 or has v.2 superceeded it ???
    Thanks!!

v.2 replaced the v.1's. you can no longer buy v.1's. They were never called v.1's but that's what people refer to them as now. They were just called "Studio 20, Studio 60, Studio 80, etc.".
Note that there never was a Studio 40 (v.1). They had an LCR-450, and the Studio 40 v.2 replaced that. And the Studio CC v.2 replaced the CC-450 center channel.

Thanks Paul. I was guessing that perhaps v.1 was front ported and v.2 was rear ported.
    Take care,

    Paul,

Actually, the LCR-450 was almost exactly like the CC-450...same configuration and similar/same specs, only the cabinet and finish were different (basically it's a CC-450 that could be used as in the horizontal or vertical position).

actually, the layout and design of the v.1(version 1) and the v.2 are roughly the same. a couple of years ago, paradigm did a little tweaking of their reference line, not sure of the actual things they changed, but some were more solid enclosures, maybe use of better parts in the crossover, etc; all in an effort to get even better sound.
plus they redesigned the exterior look, adding plastic trim pieces to the top and the front bottom of the speaker. i'm not sure if the real wood veneers they now offer were available with the v.1 speakers.
