How significant is the difference between the Paradigm cc-170 and the cc-370? Is it worth the extra money for this very important channel speaker, or is the cc-170 just fine?
Hi Dean,
I had the CC-170 for about 6 months and it worked just fine with my Monitor 7's. I just changed it to the CC-370, because it matched better with my mains (same drivers) There was a subtle difference but hardly noticeable between the two. Now only to confuse you more, Paradigm has brought out the CC-270 (so many choices ), it's one model up from the CC-170. The only difference between the 170 and 270 is the driver size, 170-5 1/2"driver and 270 - 6 1/2". Check out the website.Link Removed
If you are running Atoms in the front, I would go with the CC-170. They both have the exact same drivers, with the CC have one extra 5 1/4in driver. If you have anything from the Monitor line, I would go with the 370.
I used to have Monitor 5s and ran them with a CC-170 without any problems. I'd actually started out with the intention of going with a 370, but after a/b-ing the two at my dealer, I decided that the difference between the two was negligible. I've since upgraded from the Monitor 5s, but continued using my CC170. Great little speaker!
Same here. Using a 170 with Mini Monitors and no issues. The main difference is in the tweeters, though the mid-bass driver is also larger and a different material since it is from the Monitor line vs the Performance line. The 370 has better sound overall, but I didn't feel it necessary to have the 370 either.
