Are these speakers bipole, or dipole? Does it matter if they would be used as surronds in a 7.1 setup?

The adp170s are what Paradigm calls "Adaptive Dipole" speakers. Above a certain frequency (around 80Hz I think) the speaker pairs operate opposite to eaah other, but below that frequency the mids operate IN phase with each other.

Gives you the bass of a bipole speaker and the ambiance of a dipolar.

Oh, when I say speaker pair I mean 1 physical speaker since each speeker has 2 mids and 2 tweeters.
