Since discovering that this DVD will be released on June 3, I have been looking for some news on its aspect ratio, and all I can find is a note on the Digital Eyes website that it will be fullscreen. Has anyone heard anything to confirm or deny this?

Fox's official system doesn't have details about this release one way or the other yet. This not unusual for a "minor" Fox release that is still a couple of months away from street. It will probably be updated in a week or two.

It is most likely that Digital Eyes left their default settings at "full screen" because they didn't have information to the contrary. No other e-tailer is saying what the AR is, because they don't know one way or the other. Because Fox's site doesn't say, and there's no other source of the info (a press release or a back of the box).

I, on the other hand, vividly recall Peter Staddon's chat late last year where he reinterated the Fox commitment to OAR on DVD releases. Therefore, I have faith that this item will be released widescreen...even for a DVD that will street for around $10-$13-ish.

Well, at least I've now seen the cover art for this release. It's appropriate that John Houseman and the lovely Harvard campus are the focus:

This is a scope film too, so here is hoping to it being OAR. I recorded it to dvd when it was on FMC but would gladly settle for a 16x9 version.

If this (another of my favorite films) is NOT OAR, my head will explode.....

Movies like this usually only get one chance.

I hope it's done right...

For what it's worth, Fox Movie Channel has been showing a letterboxed print of this since late last year. It sure looked like a new transfer to me (well, compared to the full-frame print they also showed). This channel also showed a new letterboxed print for FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX around the same time.

While I do not know for sure, my money is on the DVD being OAR.
